Le Marais Paris Tour Prices

Le Marais tours cost from $37 to $274 a person, and the spread is not random. This guide explains it: what each fare buys, what it costs by the hour, what it leaves out, and the one cancellation rule that differs. Read it before you compare guided tours of Le Marais on price alone.

How much does a Le Marais tour cost?

There is no ticket to the Marais, so every dollar goes on a guide, and on a food walk on the food. The bands are wide. Shared history walks cost $50 to $117. Shared food walks cost $37 to $174. Private food walks cost $222 to $274, and both bike rides $52. Every fare is per person.

The table sorts the main walks by fare, with the hours from each listing and the cost per hour. Where a listing gives a range, the hours are its longest option, so the hourly figure is never flattered.

Two patterns stand out. History walks cluster tightly, at $25 to $32 an hour. Food walks spread from $19 to $58 an hour, because the food is the fare.

Food tours: what $37 buys and what $174 buys

At $37 you get two hours, a guide and three small tastings, from the Place de la République to the Musée Picasso. Drinks are not in the fare. It is a snack walk with a lot of talking, and the cheapest guided walk in the quarter.

At $79 NO DIET CLUB gives you three hours of tastings from the Rue des Rosiers, with ten people at most. At $104 the Secret Food Tours walk and the Do Eat Better full meal both pour wine: one feeds you ten-plus tastings, the other a meal with a seated main course. That fare is where most people book.

Above it, you pay for smaller groups and a sit-down stop. Original Food Tours costs $152 for ten at most, and needs three days' notice to cancel. Eating Europe costs $158 for nine at most, with boeuf bourguignon or choucroute at the table. The LivTours group of six costs $174, the most on a shared food walk, and the smallest group.

One catch: the same walk can have several fares. Secret Food Tours sells its Marais walk under three listings, from $87 to $117, and the lowest may be its two-hour express option near the Louvre, which never enters the Marais. Check which option the fare buys.

What do walking tours cost by the hour?

Paris Always Walk costs $50 for up to two hours, $25 an hour. The Babylon walk costs $64 for two and a half, $26 an hour. Intrepid costs $60 for two hours with a bakery sweet. The four-hour Jewish history walk costs $117, $29 an hour, and Ned's walk from Saint-Sulpice $94 for three hours with seven at most.

So the price of a history walk is mostly the price of its length. Pick the length you want, and the fare follows. The Le Marais walking tours are compared side by side on their own page.

What does private add?

The private food walks cost $222 and $274 a person, two to three times a shared one. You pay for a guide with nobody else in the group, and the fare falls per head as your party grows. A couple pays the top tier; a family of four or five pays much less each.

What do the bike tours cost?

Both rides cost $52, the lowest hourly rate of anything here: $13 an hour on Blue Bike and $15 on Fat Tire. That is the price of a long ride across Paris with a guide and a bike.

Measured by time in the Marais, the sum turns over. Blue Bike spends about an hour in the quarter, so that hour costs $52. Fat Tire spends about twenty minutes, so an hour of Marais would cost $158. Which extras does the fare leave out?

• The tip. No fare includes it, and most listings say so in their own words.
• Lunch on the long walks. The four-hour Jewish history walk prices its falafel lunch at €15 to €25, on your bill. Blue Bike stops for a lunch you buy yourself.
• Extra drinks and water. Eating Europe excludes extra drinks, and Original Food Tours excludes bottled water.
• Museum tickets. None is in any fare: the Musée Picasso is €16 and the mahJ €13. The Carnavalet's permanent collections are free.
• Rain gear. Fat Tire sells ponchos for €2 and rain jackets for €5 at its office.
• A car. The Discover Walks custom day uses the metro; a private car is extra.

Are there child prices?

On several walks, set by age band. Eating Europe sells a child band from 4 to 12 and a youth band from 13 to 17, and under-fours come free without food. Do Eat Better has a child band from 6 to 10 and an infant band up to 5. Paris Always Walk has a child band from 4 to 12, and Intrepid takes under-sixes free.

Two rules go the other way. On Blue Bike every child needs a paid place, even in a child seat. The private Secret Food Tours walk takes adults only. The family-friendly food tours in Le Marais page lists every band.

Which cancellation terms differ?

Only one. Every tour here refunds in full if you cancel at least 24 hours before the start, except the Original Food Tours walk from the Rue de Bretagne, which needs three days. If your dates might move, book that one last.

Everything else is the same: per person, free to cancel a day ahead, and no ticket to buy at the door, because there is no door.

Is a food tour worth it?

It depends what you would do instead. A street lunch of falafel costs €15 to €25. The $104 tastings walk gives you a croissant, a croque-monsieur, cheese, falafel, a macaron and chocolate, with wine, and three hours of a guide. If you want the spread and the story, it is good value. If you only want lunch, it is not.
